How Can We Help?

Leveraging GS1 Standards

Benefits

GS1’s standards allow for key identifiers (Application Identifiers) such as product, shipment, location, etc, and key attributes such as serial numbers, batch/lot numbers, dates, etc, to be encoded on barcodes and extracted by ordinary scanners.

Ventipix Asset & Inventory Manager platform can extract these identifiers and attributes, automatically, and use them as part of a record’s data attribute.

Getting Started

What you will need

GS1 Compliant Barcodes

The barcodes, QR codes, or even NFC tags, to be scanned should contain encoded data that’s compliant with GS1 standards.

The Smartphone App

Download the iOS or Android app that will help you to scan the barcodes, QR Codes, or NFC tags and extract the relevant attributes or identifiers.

You will need to create user accounts for those who should use the smartphone app, and also grant permissions to relevant sections or features of the app.

Note – although the smartphone app is recommended, you can also use a webcam to scan the GS1 barcodes.

Records In Your Account

You will need to have records in either the assets, inventory, delivery or WIP sections of your account.

Using GS1 features

GS1 Barcodes

In most cases, these will be ID barcodes that you need to scan.

You can configure the platform to extract the identifiers or attributes and then populate them on custom form fields that you have specified.

GS1 Digital Link

This will mostly be a QR code that you need to scan. This QR code contains a link that has been structured in a way that ordinary smartphone app QR code scanners simply open the browser and go to the link, whilst specialized scanners can extract key identifiers and attributes.

Ventipix Asset & Inventory Manager platform can generate the GS1 Digital Link, control where the destination URLs of the links go, and also extract key identifiers and attributes that can be populated and saved on custom form fields.

Scan analytics are also provided.

GS1 Scan4Transport

This will mostly be a QR code or a Datamatrix barcode that you need to scan.

These barcodes contain data that can include many details such as the shipping address, delivery instructions, handling information, weight & dimensions, and identifiers e.g SSCC, GSIN, GINC, etc.

These data, if encoded in GS1 Digital Link standard, the Ventipix Asset & Inventory Manager platform can extract key GS1 Scan4Transport key identifiers and attributes that you specify.

What next?

The Manage GS1 Digital Link section of the platform will show all the links that have been generated and enable you to print GS1 Digital Link QR codes, import and generate more links, view scan counts, link up with Google Analytics, and update destination URLs.
